Overview

Astray is a first-person dark fantasy/horror stealth game where the player takes on the role of Bridgitte, a young girl whose castle has been overtaken by an evil force and corrupted her once-loyal servants. Without any means to fight, she sneaks through her home in search of her parents while uncovering the mysteries behind the madness.

I worked as one of the game writers, responsible for dialogue, backstory/lore, and plotting progression.

Game Writing

  • Formulated the general premise within the overall concept of the story, and am primarily responsible for the dark fairy-tale-like tone within the narrative.
  • Co-wrote the characters in the narrative, both seen on and off-screen.
  • Wrote content for the collectible notes throughout the game, and all voice-over dialogue.
  • Scripted the voice-over on the intro/trailer videos.

Narrative Design

  • Plotted out the game's overall progression.
  • Formulated how to convey the backstory and lore of the game. This equated to conceptualizing the note collection mechanic that drip-feeds info of the larger story to satisfy the small scope in which the game was being developed.
