"Project Kituwa" is a work-in-progress game prototype with the primary purpose of helping improve my skills with Unreal Engine as I build out multiple systems into a cohesive, working vertical slice. This page only serves to document and showcase my design and implementation capabilities in Unreal Engine. Whether this grows beyond a vertical slice is to be determined... but I'm hopeful.

The project is an open-world crime RPG inspired by several other games like Cyberpunk 2077, Persona 5, Schedual 1, and primarily Grand Theft Auto. I grew up on GTA, and I miss the idea of being put into the role of a nobody character and building them up into a criminal kingpin. Games of that nature (including GTA) have opted towards a more character-centric story where growing a criminal empire is either secondary or not the focus.
I feel that there exists a middle ground between deep narrative storytelling and feeling like a growing criminal mastermind in a dynamic world that reacts to that. The purpose of Project Kituwa is to explore that.

Wanted System
The wanted system is inspired more by the Alert System from the Metal Gear Solid franchise than GTA's. The system in PK features 3 levels, where Police behavior changes based on whichever one is current.
The system features a cooldown shown in the UI if the player is either out of sight or not actively being persuaded.
